Cindy Robins Yoga
Cindy Robins has been a yoga teacher for over thirteen years, working privately from her studio in the south of England. Her classes are designed for all levels. Her practice is methodical and calm, the end result is about opening the body rather than rushing to get through each pose.
With the Western world currently in a yoga frenzy I myself have found that not all teachers or classes were created equal. What I love about Cindy's classes is the pace. Slow and strong, with each process being a journey in itself. I can be in a simple pose for a long time (with arms and thighs shaking - do not be fooled into thinking this is easy) before she finally reveals where the pose is going to end up. I find it takes the pressure off results, and especially how you think you look. During most of the class I keep my eyes closed and just listen to her guidance.
This is such a different experience from the more aerobic practices that are out there. Everyone is different and if you find mainstream yoga too fast, or not in-depth enough, or would simply like to develop a bigger understanding of all forms of yoga, Cindy will bring new insights that you can incorporate into your own practice or take with you to other classes.
As well a keen interest in dance from a young age and her intensive study with the Swamis of Sivananda yoga, Cindy has also been enormously inspired by her own teacher and mentor Mark Woolford. They both follow the Scaravelli yoga style that teaches quality of movement above achievement of postures.
"My practice now feels truly integrated, working with the vital core, the breath, the spine and the rest of the body - growing strength into lightness. It's important to remember to always be in the present moment and not to allow habits to form, coming into each asana as if it is for the first time. My teaching it is a total integration of mind body and soul."
