So firstly apologies for not having been in communication since November, the past two months were full of travel with a toddler and no computer, however I did not forget our pact. I was in the UK for the month of December and I was trying to think how I could spend the final two months of 2017's budget. As Christmas fast approached I was trying to decide what would be best and there were so many worthy causes. One evening I heard a radio program talking about the organisation called CRISIS, and then a few days later another reminder on TV.
CRISIS support the homeless and at Christmas you can reserve a place for someone at one of their shelters for Christmas. Now ordinarily as lovely as this is, it feels like a gesture which has a very short time limit, and one night solves nothing. However CRISIS offer ongoing support and really do help to rehabilitate and provide long term support, I felt that if we at least provided the first step for someone then the rest was up to them, but we had made the introduction. So I decided that two places were better than one, and so I combined November and December and we helped to provide shelter for two people this Christmas and hopefully they met someone who could change their lives or at the very least had a cup of tea and a friendly face to greet them.
There was something poignant about Christmas this year and especially with the support of the !2 Dollar Club. I took you all with me and we really did make a difference... again.
Thank you friends x
